Our mission was simple.  Before our boss left on Saturday morning, he told Adam and I to reduce the three sofa chairs to smithereens.  The chairs had been sitting inside the customer entrance, but our boss had gotten tired of their ugliness.

So after we had crossed a lot f other tasks off out list, Adam and I got a sledge hammer  and a utility knife and dragged the chairs outside, close to the dumpster.  Then Adam sledged the chairs while I shredded the cushions.

Talk about fun!

After a while, Adam broke the sledge hammer!  We got crowbars, and they worked almost as well.  Adam started singing.  That's when the police car drove up.

The officer asked us what we were doing.  He apparently thought we had broken into the dumpster, and were destroying the chairs for fun.  We assured him that we were indeed working very hard.  He parked his car across the parking lot, watching us as we finished destroying the chairs.  It kinda took the fun out of it.  Adam did not sing any more, and I did not smash the chairs as joyfully as before.
